 I made the trip to the 2009 ShowDown Drags just recently……..I left @ 3:30 am Saturday morning to meet up with some of the Slick Devils who had left before me…….We had a great time…Allthou I was dissapointed in the Trucks performance…..Before this event I had been playing w/ the nitrous…and laid down a 10.57 pass, so I was looking to better that…..but only walked away w/ a 10.65….But after I arrived back home found a few problems and fixed them………I would like to thank ScarryLarry and his wife along w/ Beaver Bob owner of the Track and to all that help run the Track and make this show possible !

I tore down my original carbs and robbed the throttle bases from them…..I was then able to mate them to the new 94 Drag carbsI have been working on……I made one pass this Sunday and the Truck clicked off 11.09 @ 118.96 MPH……The plugs are begging for more fuel..I have already changed jetting and a few other changes as well….This coming weekend isthe Thompson Gasser Nationals where I plan on doing allot of tuning and have high hopes of utilizing the nitrous for the very first time….The new carbs show allot of promise!……Littleman Dave Lohr

*Update*……….The fastest it went @ Thompson Fall Gasser meet was a 10.97 @ 121.77 mph…So we are finally back on track….I did not have a chance to hit the nitrous as of yet but am getting real close….I was only able to attend this event on the last day so I ran out of time tuning… I really needed the full day of Saturday to tune all day…but only made it out for Sunday due to tow vehicle problems..

The Truck engine is back together and running w/ the new AFR aluminum heads..The new heads have 210 cc runners w/ 2.08/1.6 valves w/ angled plugs and 65cc chambers..It took me over 4 1/2 hrs to port the intake to the new heads…I added a purge valve to the Nitrous setup along w/ a fuel pressure regulator to the fuel side of the Nitrous system..It should hit the Track real soon..hoping for good things !

I decided to start polishing my new Drag Carb’s, the outside that is..I figured the outside should look as nice as the insides…….It takes along time to get them to look good……I have only done two of the tops so far..which took longer than I thought it would…They still need more work, but figured I will get them all to this stage for now then start on the center sections………..I look at this way..I am sanding off material….so they should be lighter….therefore make the Truck faster..ha ha ha…

Update….all the tops are fully polished now and I have moved onto the larger center bodies…..They take even longer and are much more involved….I have completed one so far and they looks killer w/ the polished top on it…I will post more pics once done…

The Truck engine is torn down once again…It bent valves while at Bowling Green HRR…….It was fixed since then and did more damage once again after only three passes….This is the ninth time I have had the engine and trans pulled from the Truck since May 4th………..I have bought a new set of AFR heads and I am on a mission to better the Trucks fastest ET of 10.89 before the year is up…….I go to the track to tune and put a squeeze on what I have…….not for a Sunday drive..To be continued….Later dave

 My next generation 94 Drag Carbs are taking shape, I just finished cutting the upper transition at the top of the carb throat and rounded it out…..and finished polishing the thru bores that I enlarged…..next I will mask the middle and top carb body’s off and soda blast the outside of them @ work…I really enjoy doing this…I almost wish I could offer this as a service..but just know their would be no takers…….Littleman

Great time was had by all…..The Slick Devils had a strong showing and all did well…..My Truck really made me work hard……….only had a best of 11.03 by sunday….I had run 10.91 the Saturday before and was looking to better that by a bunch……changed jets five times in the six-two set up and many other things hunting for my goal…I worked on it the whole weekend…I tried to get it into the tens this weekend but it was not in the cards, but I tried real hard…….
Had a few bouts with violent front tire shake, So Don and I bolted on a front steering dampner after my last pass on Saturday…..seemed allot better on Sunday…
Great to see everyone again and meet new folks as well……It was great to see Axle from California ..flying out to see the event..I took myself out in eliminations during the 2nd round with a .0034 red light…I would like to thank Sean Cook for giving me a hand on Friday..it was nice to have someone help out with the jet changes made that day!…
The Thompson team that ran the Track that weekend did an awesome job !……Before I left I walked around and shook each of their hands and thanked them for their hard work………..
UPDATE..Since this weekend…..I did a leak down test on each cylinder and found out I bent a few valves….The worst one was an intake valve…..Which helps explain why the engine did not really respond to the jet changes..I was chasing my tail yet again….Good times…….Littleman

I took my time assembling everything back together.Had to replace two exhaust valves and I upgrated the rocker arms from the aluminum rockers to Comp Cam chrome-moly 1.6 rockers and also went w/ a Harland  Sharp stud girdle setup…American made Good stuff !!!. I am anxious to get the Truck staged at the Drag Tree………Let the Bulbs Drop !!!…….I am expecting good things and improved times….Next race will be first weekend in June @ Thompson Gasser meet..then onto Bowling Green HRR two weeks later…Littleman Dave Lohr

**UPDATE**……I went to the DragStrip this past Saturday 5-30-09 and made one run……It went 10.91 @ 121.02 mph………and the best part the plugs read super lean…….So I have already jetted it up for this coming weekend for the Thompson Gasser Meet…….I am guessing I will have to change jets a few more times…….but It should go faster yet………Later Littleman

I had a great time at this event………I went out with fellow Slick Devil club members to make some noise pollution !………..The Truck did great…it went thru all the rounds in the class all the way to the final…….I cut a great light and it was my race to be had…..But as you can see above my # 2 cylinders pushrod had other idea’s at the top end of the track……..But it still clicked of a 11.30 on partial power……….It also brought another problem to light……I am in the middle of fixing everything and it should be allot faster the next time out……Dave Littleman Lohr

I have allot of time invested in these…..It took me one hour just to do one each of the nozzle bars and one squirter…..I cannot wait to try these out !!….More airflow-means I should be able to introduce more fuel with the end result ending with more Power………Dave Littleman Lohr

This past weekend the Truck and the new engine combination saw the Drag Strip for the first time…Out of the box, not touching anything it ran…..11.23 then 11.21and a 11.29 going side to side part way down……The Truck had allot of bite Saturday, it kept pushing thru the line lock on the burnouts..and pushing thru the tree lights…The last pass they had me kill it because of tranny fluid………I have to pull the whole thing out again to see where it’s coming from, it looks like it’s coming from under my trans shield…It may be coming out the breather up off the trans case ?..I rarely have leaks….I will get it pulled soon like in the next few day’s…….It needs allot more fuel on the top end and fuel pressure…it was on the conservative side today…..Last year out of the box it went high 11’s, and by the end of the year it went 10.89……….So I now I can get this thing allot faster with all the winter changes that were done….and when the engine gets maxed out sometime this year…I will hit the new nitrous button and have even more fun………I was worried about showing up and running at this track, not being a local….but everyone that ran the track was super nice and that goes for all the drag racers as well…all super nice…….A special thanks to ”Mike The Photo Guy” aka Mike Yoksick, he is the Milan track photographer and freelancer for many magazines…great guy!!
